The Database Behind the Scanner
⚠️ Scanner Limitations
- • Photo quality matters: Clear, well-lit photos of the cowling get the best results. Blurry or dark shots reduce accuracy.
- • Coverage: Best for the major 6 brands (Mercury, Yamaha, Honda, Suzuki, Evinrude, Tohatsu) plus 24 others including vintage makes. Rare or custom engines may not be identified.
- • Not a marine surveyor: The scanner identifies the engine model and specs. It cannot assess mechanical condition, hours, compression, or internal wear.
- • Multiple engines: Submit one engine per scan for best results. Multi-engine photos may confuse the AI.
- • Year precision: The AI can usually narrow to a year range (e.g., 2004–2012) but not always the exact model year.
