Shape, color, text, proportions, vent patterns, and logo placement are all weighted and scored to produce a confidence rating. Higher confidence = more reliable identification.

Neural Network Classification

The extracted features pass through a multi-layer classification engine. Think of it as the AI's "brain" - it's comparing what it sees against everything it's ever learned about outboard engines. Every curve, every font, every shade of gray.

The model was trained on thousands of engine images across every major manufacturer: Mercury, Yamaha, Honda, Suzuki, Evinrude, Johnson, Tohatsu, and more. It knows the difference between a 2005 Yamaha F150 and a 2012 Yamaha F150 by the vent pattern on the cowling.

This database wasn't pulled from a spreadsheet. We compiled data from manufacturer catalogs, dealer inventories, marine parts databases, and spec sheets — then cleaned, verified, and structured every data point. It took months to build and we continue to expand it daily.
